Tammy & Chris: Planning a Blue Venado Seaside Destination Wedding from Abroad
How Tammy and Chris planned a vibrant, elegant destination wedding at Blue Venado Seaside in the Riviera Maya without visiting the venue first: remote planning, personalization and vendor coordination with Sofía García and the Blue Venado Weddings team.

Tammy and Chris were married on May 12, 2023, at Blue Venado Seaside in Mexico's Riviera Maya. Their wedding is a good example of something many couples worry about: planning a destination wedding without being able to visit the venue first.
What they asked for
They wanted a celebration that felt vibrant and elegant. Because they could not travel to see the venue in person, they needed guidance from a distance and visual material that would help them truly understand the space.
Tammy also had a clear personal wish: no first look. She wanted only her mother to help her get dressed, and for everyone else to see her for the first time as she walked down the aisle.

Planning from a distance
I organized a video call to present the venue through photos, videos and screen sharing, so they could understand the layout, the light and how the day would flow before they ever arrived. I also took part in the search for video options and channeled their request for guest accommodation.
For couples planning from abroad, this is the most important part of the process: replacing the site visit with information that is honest, visual and complete enough to make real decisions.
Personalization that protects a moment
Respecting Tammy's wish shaped the plan. Getting-ready, photography and the timeline were organized so that her mother could be with her while she dressed, and so that the first time everyone else saw her was the walk down the aisle.
Coordination behind the scenes
A wedding like this depends on a team. The Blue Venado Weddings team reviewed the timeline with every vendor and coordinated coverage of the groom's preparations at TRS Yucatán. Christian Del Rio was the day-of coordinator, and his work on the day is a big part of why the plan ran the way it was designed.
What other couples can take from it
- You do not have to visit a venue to choose it well, but you do need a real virtual walkthrough and complete visual material.
- Say your personal wishes early. They change the timeline, the photography plan and the logistics.
- Ask who will coordinate your day and how the team aligns the timeline with every vendor.
